If butter is breakfast's best friend, chocolate butter is its lover. Or at least that's what Lewis Road Creamery wants you to think.
The New Zealand-based company joined forces with fellow kiwis Whittaker's chocolate to create – what they believe to be – the world's first chocolate butter. Have you started drooling yet?
Featuring a whipped variety of the familiar bagel spread with 72% dark Ghana chocolate, the concoction is said to pair best with breads, pastries (especially hot croissants), pancakes and even red meat. (Honestly, it sounds like it'd pair best with a spoon and our tongue.)
While the product is currently exclusive to New Zealand, Lewis Road Creamery founder Peter Cullinane tells DairyReporter that he hopes to expand.
"One of the things that excites us about it is that if it does as well as we expect it to do in the local market, then it's a great product for export as well," he said.
We'll be waiting...or proceeding to dump cocoa powder into our butter tray as a temporary alternative.
