Sophie Dahl

Location: Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom

Sophie Dahl is a bestselling British author who contributes regularly to such notable publications as Vogue, The Guardian, New York Magazine, The Observer, and Condé Nast Traveller. The granddaughter of famed children’s book author Roald Dahl, she has published two critically acclaimed children’s books of her own as well as two novels and two cookbooks. Dahl hosted a six-part cookery series on BBC2, The Delicious Miss Dahl, based on her first cookbook Miss Dahl’s Voluptuous Delights (2009).

Not unlike a character from one of her grandfather’s stories, Sophie Dahl had a very colorful childhood, attending 10 schools and living in 17 homes across three continents, from London to New York to India. She began modeling at the age of 18 after being discovered by the editor of British Vogue. Dahl spent several years walking the runways for top designers like Alexander McQueen and Versace and appearing on the covers of Vogue, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar, among others. She published her first book, The Man with the Dancing Eyes, in 2003, which launched her second career as a writer. Dahl went on to write about a range of topics, from food to cultural identity to politics. She became a columnist and contributing editor at House & Garden in 2020.
