Sarah Yenbamroong

Sarah Yenbamroong (née St. Lifer) is a Los Angeles-based freelance journalist who covers food, dining, lifestyle, beauty, arts, and entertainment. She co-owns the critically acclaimed Night + Market Thai restaurants with her husband chef Kris Yenbamroong. In addition to Food & Wine, her writing has appeared in such publications as Refinery29, Cherry Bombe, Huffington Post, and The Los Angeles Times, among others.


Growing up, fashion played a central role in Sarah Yenbamroong’s life with both parents in retail. After college, she found a job working at and contributing to the Huffington Post. Her life in fashion merged with food when she met her chef husband Kris and moved to Los Angeles to be with him. Sarah divided her time between working at Huffington Post, then later Refinery29, and helping Kris run what would become the wildly popular Night + Market restaurant, known for its rule-breaking Thai cooking and innovative wine lists. In 2020, their restaurant garnered a James Beard Award nomination for Outstanding Wine Program, a nice payback for Sarah sacrificing her beloved shoes for trunk space to bring back three cases of natural wine from New York all those years ago. 


Sarah Yenbamroong holds a bachelor of arts in visual arts from Bennington College.
