Sarah Kieffer

Sarah Kieffer is a baker, cookbook author, and creator of The Vanilla Bean Baking Blog. In addition to Food & Wine contributions, her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Epicurious, Food 52, Saveur, The Kitchn, NBC’s Today Show, and Good Morning America, among others. Kieffer’s bestselling titles include The Vanilla Bean Baking Book (2016), 100 Cookies (2020), and Baking for the Holidays (2021).


A self-taught baker, Sarah Kieffer worked in various cafe-bakeries in and around her hometown of Minneapolis. She decided to focus on home baking after the birth of her children and started her popular blog in 2011 to, in her words, “create some kind of food heritage.” In 2014, Kieffer won Reader’s Choice Best Baking & Desserts Blog in the Saveur Best Food Blog Awards. Her recipe for Pan-Banging Chocolate Chip Cookies from her wildly popular book 100 Cookies became a viral sensation when it appeared in The New York Times. Kieffer’s latest work, 100 Morning Treats, will be published in May 2023.
