Ozoz Sokoh

Nigerian-born Ozoz Sokoh is a food explorer, researcher, curator, and content creator based in Ontario, Canada, who believes that food is much more than just eating. She founded the award-winning blog and website Kitchen Butterfly where she shares her Nigerian recipes and West African cultural heritage. Before she decided to eat, read, cook, write, and think about food full-time, Ozoz Sokoh was an exploration geologist for 15 years. While living in the Netherlands and homesick, she began cooking and blogging about her research of traditional and classic Nigerian recipes and exploration of contemporary approaches to West African cuisine. Since 2009 Sokoh has published 1,000+ articles on food and food culture, spoken widely on West African and Diasporic culinary history and traditions, and worked to promote sustainability in Nigeria’s food systems. As a highly respected researcher and expert on Nigerian cuisine, she has consulted for such brands as Maggi-Nestle, CocaCola, Ajinomoto, Domino's Pizza, Sympli, and 12 Spices on a number of projects. Ozoz also has been teaching food tourism and food media part-time at Centennial College in Toronto since 2021.
