1999 Best New Chef Marc Vetri

A 1999 Food & Wine Best New Chef, Marc Vetri founded the Vetri Family of Restaurants in Philadelphia. The chef and cookbook author's restaurants include Vetri Cucina, Fiorella, and Fiore Rosso. Vetri won the 2005 James Beard Award for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic and his books include Mastering Pasta and Mastering Pizza.

Experience

Originally from Philadelphia, Vetri trained in Bergamo, Italy, before returning to his hometown. He opened Vetri Cucina in 1998 and it remains open today. After selling his restaurant group to Urban Outfitters in 2015, Vetri returned to open Fiorella in the Italian Market of Philadelphia and Osteria Fiorella in Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa in Las Vegas in 2020, followed by Vetri Cucina at Palms Casino Resort and Fiore Rosso in Philly.

Vetri authored Il Viaggio Di Vetri: A Culinary Journey, Rustic Italian Food, Mastering Bread, Mastering Pizza, and Mastering Pasta. His Vetri Community Partnership nonprofit focused on nutrition education.

Education

Vetri completed the French Culinary Institute's Art of International Bread Baking Program in 1998.
