Linda Burum

Intrepid global gourmand Linda Burum is a veteran food writer based in Santa Monica, California. She has been a contributing columnist at the Los Angeles Times and Los Angeles Magazine for well over two decades. Linda is the author of nine books, including Asian Pasta: A Cook's Guide to Noodles, Wrappers, and Pasta Creations from the East (1986) and A Guide to Ethnic Foods in Los Angeles (1992).


An adventurous eater since childhood, Linda Burum has traveled the globe sampling every kind of delicacy from even the most obscure locations in search of a hidden gem restaurant or artisan food producer. In addition to her columns in the Los Angeles Times and Los Angeles Magazine, she's shared her discoveries in articles for other outlets, such as Saveur, Chicago Tribune, Food & Wine, Food Arts, Shape, and Voyager. Linda has been a commentator on The Splendid Table and EAT: Los Angeles Off the Ramp (KPCC). A highly respected expert on Los Angeles, she was tapped to write culinary guidebooks Zagat Marketplace Survey and The Cook's Marketplace, Los Angeles. Linda is also the author of cookbooks Brownies (1984) and Frozen Delights (1987).
