Henry Jeffreys is a British drinks expert and columnist. Jeffreys is the award-winning author of four books: Empire of Booze (2016), The Home Bar (2018), The Cocktail Dictionary (2020), and Vines in a Cool Climate (2023). In addition to Food & Wine, his writing has appeared in The Guardian, The Independent, Daily Telegraph, BBC Good Food, The Spectator, and others.

Experience

Henry Jeffreys spent more than a decade in various publicity management roles within book publishing, working for such prestigious companies as Bloomsbury and Hodder & Stoughton. He has been a freelance journalist and editor since 2005 and started one of the most-read drink blogs, Henry's World of Booze. He began writing a weekly wine column in The Lady magazine in 2011 and in 2014 he was shortlisted Drink Writer of the Year for his work in The Spectator at the Fortnum & Mason Awards. His first book, Empire of Booze, won Debut Drink Book of the Year at the Fortnum & Mason Awards and was shortlisted for a Louis Roederer wine writing award in 2017. Henry currently serves as blog editor for Masters of Malt, an award-winning online drinks retailer, and writes a wine column for The Critic Magazine. 

Education

Henry Jeffreys studied English and Classical Literature at the University of Leeds.
