Greg Patent Instagram Location: Missoula, Montana Greg Patent is a food writer and baker from Montana, known as The Baking Wizard. He has published 11 cookbooks, including the James Beard Award-winning Baking in America (2002). In addition to his food writing, Patent is the co-host of a weekly podcast, Food Guys, produced by Montana Public Radio. Experience At the age of 18, Greg Patent entered the Pillsbury Bake-Off and won second prize in the junior division. Despite his talent for baking, he pursued a career in academia and taught zoology for years at the University of Montana before he began writing a weekly food column for his local paper and later hosting a 30-minute cooking show out of his home kitchen.Patent was hired by Cuisinart to be their national spokesperson and he spent six years traveling across the country teaching cooking classes and developing recipes, which culminated in the cookbook, Patently Easy Food Processor Cooking (1985). By the 1990s, he was writing about food full-time, publishing a slew of cookbooks. Baking in America not only won the James Beard Award in 2003 but also received the Gourmand World Cookbook Award for the Best Baking Book in the English Language and was an IACP cookbook award finalist.
