Chris Bianco

A James Beard Award-winning pizzaiolo, chef, and restaurateur from the Bronx, Chris Bianco is best known for his pilgrimage-worthy wood-fired pizza at Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix, Arizona.

In 1988, when Chris Bianco started Pizzeria Bianco in a back corner of a Phoenix grocery store, he had no idea that it would become a driving force in the movement toward artisanal pizza. As a result of his relationships with farmers, local producers, customers, and staff, Bianco's food reflects the respect and sincerity that he brings to each of his recipes.

Bianco won the 2003 James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southwest, and Pizzeria Bianco has been nominated for Outstanding Restaurant five times. The chef starred in Netflix's Chef's Table: Pizza, episode 1, now operates two Pane Bianco sandwich eateries and Italian restaurant Tratto, and he collaborates with Rob DiNapoli on organic tomato products under the label Bianco DiNapoli.
