Andres Barrera Andres Barrera is a Chicago-based chef who has been cooking professionally for more than two decades. He is a veteran of the food and beverage industry who garnered national attention when he competed on season 3 of Food Network's Chopped. Experience Andres Barrera's early childhood fascination with cooking shows led him to pursue a culinary career. He moved to New York City after graduating from Le Cordon Bleu in his native Chicago. In New York, Andres honed his skills, from precision cooking and plating at Capitale to mastering the art of pizza-slinging at Brooklyn institution Franny's. He opened the 300-seat music and dining venue City Winery in New York in 2008, where he created a popular small plate sharing-and-pairing menu. Andres gained national attention when he appeared on season 3 of Food Network's Chopped as a contestant.In 2012, the chef moved back to his hometown to take the helm of the City Winery Chicago location. Education Andres graduated from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Chicago with an Associate of Professional Studies in Culinary Arts.
