Amethyst Ganaway is a chef, food writer, recipe developer, and content creator. Her area of expertise is the culture and foodways of the South, African-Americans, and the African diaspora. She is the recipient of the Les Dames d'Escoffier International Legacy Culinary Award for 2020 and 2021.

Experience

Amethyst Ganaway is a veteran of the food and beverage industry, having worked as a freelance chef since 2009. She began food writing in 2019. Amethyst's articles and recipes have appeared in The New York Times, Eater, Food & Wine, Food52, Saveur, Plate Magazine, Serious Eats, TASTE Cooking, and The Kitchen. She received the Les Dames d'Escoffier International Legacy Culinary Award in 2020 and 2021. Amethyst is the content manager and head recipe developer for Yolélé, Chef Pierre Thiam's West African food brand.

Amethyst graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion/Religious Studies.
