Experience

Alica has been sharing stories about her Guyanese heritage and family's heirloom recipes for well over a decade. She began her blog "Alica's Pepperpot," named after Guyana's national dish, in graduate school as a way to explore and connect with her cultural identity. Alica's professional work in sales, food marketing, and advertising gave way to a full-time career as a digital content creator, recipe developer, and cooking instructor. Her focus is to inspire younger generations to learn about their cultural heritage through cooking the food of their Caribbean immigrant families. Alica has written for publications and online sites such as Condé Nast Traveller, Simply Recipes, Eater, Cooking Sense, and Brown Girl Magazine. She has been featured in American Express Essentials, Mic, ZiNG Caribbean, and Essence.
