Make Kate Hudson's Fig & Burrata Flatbread in Your Kitchen, Then Recreate It On Your Phone
Kate Hudson has transformed herself into a winemaking, flatbread-baking cartoon character in Farmville 2: Country Escape. The mobile game now features the actor's Santa Barbara winery, Hudson Bellamy, where players can make wine and also a dish she developed with her husband, musician Matthew Bellamy: a fig & burrata-topped flatbread that's perfect for fall dinner parties or Thanksgiving. The recipe for the real-life flatbread is below, but Hudson's Farmville strategy tip is to also make it in the game: "It's worth more points than other dishes," she reveals.
Hudson says she caught the winemaking bug from her "pa" Kurt Russell, who has produced his own GoGi wine in the same region for years. "Winemaking is a seriously creative process," says Hudson. "You tune into sight, taste, smell. It's no wonder people who love wine are so passionate, because you are tapping into so many different senses at once." The best bottle she's ever had? The 1978 Domaine de la Romanee-Conti La Tache, a lusted-after red Burgundy that top critics have said is among the best wines ever made. (Expect to pay a few thousand if you can track one down.) But Hudson's annual Thanksgiving celebration is totally down-to-earth. "We always have a very big Thanksgiving and certain dishes are always the same: Broccoli Surprise (its similar to a broccoli casserole) and sweet potatoes that we put inside hollowed out oranges covered with marshmallows," she says. "And we're a huge football family so it’s always on during the day."
