Food & Wine's Editorial Guidelines Published on March 10, 2023 Share Tweet Pin Email Photo: Courtesy of Whole Foods If you're anything like me, you could easily spend hours perusing Whole Foods and assessing the new products, but you have neither the time to read every product description nor the grocery budget to purchase everything that catches your attention. That's where Food & Wine comes in. Every month, I try out Whole Foods' latest products, including their own 365 brand items and any other exciting releases, to see what items are actually worth your time and money. Read on to discover my picks for your shopping cart this March. 01 of 07 Whole Foods Market Regenerative Organic Certified Dried Mangos Courtesy of Whole Foods I love a good dried mango but I typically go for the more candy-like versions covered in Tajín that are found at Mexican grocery stores and not the plain actually-a-dried-piece-of-fruit variety because honestly, they’re boring. Because these dried mangos fall more into the latter category, I was not expecting much but after trying them my household is obsessed to the point of fighting over the last pieces in the bag. (This has not been solved by purchasing more.) Though the mango strips are dried, they are plump enough that they have a gummy, juicy center, giving them a huge edge over all the other jerky-like dried fruit I’ve tried in the past. They also have a lovely, strong mango flavor and make a perfect snack to take just about anywhere. 02 of 07 Simple Mills Nut Butter Stuffed Sandwich Cookies Courtesy of Whole Foods Who doesn’t love a sandwich cookie? These little guys come stuffed with the perfect amount of peanut butter and sugar that stops short of candy, but still feels like a nice sweet treat. I have them on hand when I need a little mood booster or am in the middle of prepping dinner and need a snack to hold me over until the food is ready. 03 of 07 Brooklyn Delhi Spicy Mango Chutney Courtesy of Whole Foods I’m already a fan of Brooklyn Delhi’s curry ketchup so I was excited to try this chutney and luckily it lived up to the high bar I’d set. Like some of the best condiments, it brings the best of both the sweet and savory worlds, giving it enormous potential to work with a variety of dishes and become a staple in your fridge. Thanks to Kashmiri chili it does have a touch of heat but is complex enough that you won’t mind a little sweat on your temple. I recently used it to take hot dogs to new heights and I can’t wait to see what other items it’ll help me to enhance. 04 of 07 GOODLES Here Comes Truffle Mac and Cheese Courtesy of Whole Foods GOODLES are a staple in my home because everyone should have some boxed macaroni on hand for an instant serotonin boost and no other mac and cheese feels as funky — or made for adults — as GOODLES. New to the lineup is their truffle flavor which is a perfect way to elevate your mac without having to bust out any specialty ingredients of your own. I recommend buying a box of these and every other GOODLES flavor next to it next time you’re in need of a nostalgic and easy dinner. 05 of 07 Sanzo Pomelo Flavored Sparkling Water Courtesy of Sanzo Back in 2022, we named Sanzo Food & Wine Game Changers for shaking up the seltzer aisle with the introduction of Asian-inspired flavors like yuzu, calamansi, and lychee. Now they’ve got another winner on their hands with a brand new pomelo flavor. Tart and slightly bitter, but with a subtle natural sweetness from the fruit it’s a welcome change from the fake flavors and overly sweet bubbles you’ll find in most seltzers these days. The perfect amount of carbonation makes it an easy sipper that doesn’t feel too heavy. I’ve enjoyed it on its own but am looking forward to trying it in a Paloma. 06 of 07 Changing Seas’ Salmon Burgers Courtesy of Whole Foods After coming home from the gym and unexpectedly finding my entire family waiting for lunch, I whipped up these salmon burgers from frozen in just 10 minutes and fed the crowd with ease. They held together perfectly although they could easily be flaked over a salad if that’s more your speed. Juicy, flavorful, and very filling they were just the thing to satisfy all the critics at the table. One word of warning, the patties are thin so you need to be sure to keep an eye on them so they don’t overcook and dry out. 07 of 07 Whole Foods Market Irish Soda Bread Courtesy of Whole Foods Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, Whole Foods Irish Soda Bread is back. Since St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Friday this year, it might be a good idea to grab a loaf to balance out all the beer you might be imbibing on the holiday-plus-weekend combo.
