Welcome to Vietnam where even pretty women can't stop the traffic. I'm Peter John Lindberg and I love this place. The people, the landscape, the architecture, the food, my God, the food. This, by the way, is [UNKNOWN], my favorite restaurant in Ho Chi Man City Which everyone still calls Saigon. I've been coming back to Vietnam every year or two since 1996 and in that time it's really exploded as an economic and cultural force and especially as a travel destination. Vietnam has changed a great deal in the last decade and a half. Every time I return to Saigon I hardly recognize the skyline. Some sleek new highrise has shot up over night. There's a boom town energy here that's hard to resist. This is a country running headlong into what's next. Cities like Saigon and Hanoi are becoming more cosmopolitan. Young Vietnamese are opening edgy design shops, experimental art galleries but then you'll turn a corner and come upon a timeless scene like this. The great thing about traveling here is how close and how vital the old world still is and how easily you can move between the future and the past In Viet Nam, you never linger long in the present tense. And the present never lingers long either. So if you haven't traveled here yet, I can't urge you strongly enough. Get to Viet Nam before the moment slips away. [BLANK_AUDIO]
