Tips for mixing the perfect cocktail

Hi. I'm Nick Mautone, master mixologist for Bacardi brand. And I'm Gail Simmons from Food and Wine Magazine. And today, I'm going to show Gail how to make some of my favorite cocktails. So Gail, the first cocktail I'm gonna show you how to make is the Bacardi [UNKNOWN]. Sounds good, tell me about it. This cocktail is one of the most vibrant cocktails around. Its lively fruit flavors combined with the zip and effervescence of the ginger make the It's the perfect celebratory cocktail for your holiday entertaining. All right! I'm ready to mix! Great! Let's start with one part of our Bacardi superior rum. Okay. How do you know what one part is? Just about half of that jigger, up to that line just there. Great. Like that? Pour it right in. And we already have ice in the shaker. Great! What's next? Next, we're going to use 1 1/2 parts cranberry juice. Prune juice. Okay so just a little bit more of this. Yeah, next line up. Makes it easy. There you go. Next, half part orange juice. Okay so just like a big splash. Correct. Next I'm gonna add in a dash or in this case a squeeze of fresh lime. Okay. And. Squeeze for fresh lemon juice. This is all the real stuff fresh juice only, right? correct, only the best for our cocktail. Okay. Okay now let's shake it up. So before we mix this up, tell me about Bacardi superior rum. Sure. Bacardi Superior rum is the ultimate mix in spirit. WIth a unique flavor profile that enhances rather than dominates with flavors such as mint. In lime. Great, so we're ready to shake it up, right? Absolutely, go fo it. So how do I know how long to shake for? Well, you'll see frost beading up on the outside of the shaker, and it'll feel very, very cold to the touch. I think I'm ready. [BLANK_AUDIO] Perfect. And now, we're gonna top it off With three parts of our ginger ale and you can just bring it right to the top of the cocktail. And we can garnish this with lemon, lime or orange slices. What do you prefer? Maybe lime and orange? Great, let's do it. Okay, so just like this? Perfect. Mm. It smells amazing. I'm really getting those citrus notes. And it takes even better. This drink is the perfect example of how Bacardi Superior Rum Highlights the citrus quality of the cocktail. Cheers. Cheers. So now Gayle, I'm going to show you how to make a cocktail using Grey Goose [UNKNOWN] flavored vodka. Okay. Here, take a smell. It smells like pears but it also has a nuttiness to it. Exactly. And now we're going to add just a few simple ingredients. Just a grape. The grape is the poire ginger joy. Sounds like the perfect holiday drink. Great. In the cocktail shaker, we already have ice and a 3/4 part of ginger liqueur. Okay. Next we're gonna add 1 and a half parts of Grey Goose La Poire flavored vodka. Just like that? Perfect. Now to give it that sweet tart flavor, we're going to add one and a half parts of lemon sour mix. And lemon sour mix is just lemon juice and simple syrup, correct? Correct. Okay. Perfect. Nick, why would I use Grey Goose [INAUDIBLE] flavored vodka with this instead of for example unflavored vodka? Great question. The fruit forward flavors of the pear Now we've perfectly with exotic spiciness of the ginger liqueur. It makes sense. Can I shake now? Absolutely. Go for it. Now, our last cocktail is served over ice. This part we're gonna pour up in a Martini glass which will give a little more elegance to our cocktail party. Okay, just like that? Perfect pour. Very pretty. Now we can garnish it with our. It's so pretty, and I think it's such a great seasonal cocktail for the holidays. Grey Goose [UNKNOWN] has unique flavored vodka that goes with a wide variety and range of ingredients. I certainly get the pear and ginger combination. What other ingredients would be good with it?
