Sycamore Kitchen Masters the Breakfast Sandwich in Los Angeles

Picking the best breakfast sandwich in LA is quite the task, but push came to shove and I chose Sycamore Kitchen’s scrambled egg-and-chorizo breakfast sandwich. Husband-and-wife co-owners Quinn and Karen Hatfield dreamed up this sandwich even before the restaurant opened. It combines the perfect balance of sweet and spicy flavors with eggs, caramelized house-made chorizo, gruyere cheese, roasted onions and oven-roasted tomato spread, all served on griddled slices of their proprietary pan de mie.—L.A.'s Maria Nguyen of The Art of Plating (@theartofplating) and F&W's Around the World Network

[MUSIC] Hi, I'm Karen Hatfield. I own the Sycamore Kitchen, I'm also the chef. My husband and I opened it together. We're co-chefs. We developed the chorizo and egg sandwich before we opened. It was something we knew we really wanted Wanted on the menu and so we worked on what would be the right bread, all the spices in the chorizo, house made panzanie, and that's heavily caramelized chorizo has a little bit of Grier, has an oven roasted tomato spread The griddle pan to be, and then it's all put together, and it's got a nice sweetness from the onions and the tomatoes, and a little kick from the chorizo. And it's one of our most popular breakfast dishes since the day we opened. [MUSIC] [BLANK_AUDIO]
