Hi, I'm Suzanne Griswold with Chicks With Knives. Today, you will make your very own vanilla extract. All you need are two simple ingredients and just very little equipment. You'll need one ounce of vanilla beans, that's approximately seven vanilla beans. And we'll also need one cup of 80 proof alcohol. We prefer to use a vodka. Start off by splitting all your vanilla pods You want to go ahead and flatten out your vanilla. Start at one end and just with your paring knife go all the way through the pod. Turn my knife over so I don't cut through the bean and I'm just going to scrape down the length of the bean exposing all that wonderful caviar. Then you're going to give a very, very good shake. So, after a minimum of eight weeks, All the way up to six months your extract is ready to be used. [BLANK_AUDIO]
