Number one, you wanna butter the bread, not the pan, because you want even distribution of the butter on the bread. The second thing is, you wanna grate the cheese, because it will melt quicker. And what that means is that you will melt the cheese before the bread has a chance to burn. The third thing is, you wanna put it in a nonstick pan With a lid. Most people say no I like cast iron. But no, do the non-stick. You want that cheese to melt before the bread has a chance to burn.
