Hong Kong's Best Breakfast Sandwich

San Hang Yuen is an authentic Cha Chaan Teng, or classic Hong Kong style café, located in the colorful and historic Sham Shui Po district in Hong Kong. Owner Cheung Chi Kin allowed me to basically be in everyone’s way inside the busy, small, crowded kitchen and showed me how to make San Hang Yuen’s signature corned beef egg sandwich.

San Hang Yuen is an authentic Cha Chaan Teng, or classic Hong Kong style café, located in the colorful and historic Sham Shui Po district in Hong Kong. It is a hole-in-wall eatery that cooks up corned beef egg sandwiches, pork knuckle noodle soup, red bean ice, milk tea and Hong Kong-style French toast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Hong Kongers line up down the street and around the corner for their famous corned beef egg sandwich, so be prepared to queue up and share a table with other hungry diners for this delicious treat. Owner Cheung Chi Kin allowed me to basically be in everyone’s way inside the busy, small, crowded kitchen and showed me how to make San Hang Yuen’s signature corned beef egg sandwich. It is comfort food at its best and I wouldn't be upset if I woke up next to this breakfast sandwich everyday for the rest of my life.—Deana Saukam of Faim Fatale (@faimfatale) and F&W's Around the World Network
