Chef the Movie Intro

Hi everybody. Thank you for coming out to the celebration of Food and Wine magazine, and Top Chef, and Chef the film. As a lot of you know, well some of you don't, I'd like to welcome all the Boston chefs, but the people from Top Chef know that Roy Choi and I came out and did some guest judging. On one of the episodes from the New Orleans season last year. And it was right before we began filming this film. So there's a lot of, I had a lot of conversations with some of you. Gail and Tom and Padma, and it might've seemed like I was just asking random questions about what would be on a menu of a chef who's lost his His inspiration and what's something that no chef wants to cook and what's outdated and all those little things all contributed to the film you're about to see, right down to the chocolate lava cake. There were moments I was observing everything when I was there and it was extremely helpful. I was observing the contestants, noticing all the little burns on their arms, what type of tattoos that they had. And it was my last moment before I went to shooting where I really got to be immersed. And not just the experience of filming, but, if Pat remembers, going to Roy Choi, to Emiril's restaurant and sitting at the chef's table and then going out with all of you. After we were filming, and experiencing what it was like to go out with chefs and see how chefs treated other chefs. So it really gave me some first hand experience, and hopefully it translated to the film you're about to see. Also, part of my research was just watching every season of Top Chef. So, I'm sorry I can't be there with you. I hope you enjoy it. Please tweet me afterwards and let me know if you like it or not. I'm John. Underscore Favro. John underscore Favro. Let me know if you like the film, because it's how the chef community feels about it that's the most important aspect to me. Some of you have seen it. It's been playing at festivals. The chefs I have talked to have been very kind and supportive, and I'm very happy to share it with you. Thank you for taking the time.
