California's Central Coast is a fascinating wine region. For one thing, it's a vast wine region. This is everything from Monterey down to LA, basically. Pinot Noir from the Santa Lucia Highlands. This is inland from Monterey, catches all those Pacific breezes, stays cool. It's perfect Pinot Noir territory. Zinfandel from Paso Robles, warm climate, produces huge, spicy, red zinfandel. Not the pink sweet stuff, but the big, robust red stuff. Syrah from the Santa Rita Hills down by Santa Barbara, this is probably some of the best syrah in California, the country. It's heading towards being some of the best syrah in the world. Those are some things to look for from central coast wines, but you could spend months or even years investigating everything that comes from this place.
