Our editors share their favorite island getaways from Maine to Washington State.
[MUSIC] Hi, I'm Sarah. And I'm Nilou. You don't have to travel far to get away from it all. So we asked our in-the-know readers for their island escapes right here in America. For me, whale watching is a trip of a lifetime, and Washington's San Juan Islands It's a prime whale watching destination. In the summer months, you can get up close, but not too close, and personal with orcas, sea lions, and seals. Now, I also have a soft spot for New England as you know, and it doesn't get much better than Mount Desert Island in Maine. There's Acadia National Park, plenty of lobster rolls, which you know I love, wild blueberry bushes. And all of that incredible fall foliage all in one place. Wow, bring your camera. Near Charleston, Kiawah Island is a great spot for families. I was just there, as you know, and spent the day shark fishing. I even caught a bonnet shark. What? Well, we threw it back. Don't worry. Thank God. Further south the overseas highway to Key West has to be one of the most jaw-dropping drives in all of America. I love that lobster. Fried green tomato BLT, they serve at Hot Fish Bar and Grill, it's right on the water. Well, as we know, you're all about the food. [LAUGH] It's true. Thanks for watching. Happy travels. [MUSIC]
