Do-It-Yourself Truffles

I am half-way through the recipe, just sort of did step 3, and it doesn't look like this will work for me. I wasn't able to scoop out the ganache as described, as it's really hard already!  I wonder how I will be able to make the "scoops" into round truffles or even have anything stick to them. If anyone sees this, please help! What can I do next to make it work?
