Outstanding! I used my food processer for the potatoes. I used a small saucepan, by accident, so it took longer for the shallots to fry up. It was so good. As a Jewish woman, married to a Catholic man, I was so proud of this dish for my family's Seder. I prefer savory to sweet kugels and it was great. I made this the night before and used the two baking dishes recommended. I filled up one more than the other by accident. You can use a larger baking pan, next time I will. It was tasty, crisp on the outside and solid & moist inside. I was worried because I saw a lot of oil but once I reheated it was perfect. This is a keeper (all year round)!!!
