goaugiedoggiesI made the pastry but put it in a pie plate before reading the directions. It turned out fine. Will make it again. Next time I'll add some capers and possibly some chopped sun-dried tomatoes. I just drizzled a little creme fraiche over the top. The picture on Food and Wine makes it look like they used a LOT of it. I think that would overwhelm the dish.

I made this last night (4-24-08). My wife raved! The star of the show was the peas and tomato mixture. I thought the puttanesca sauce was good, but my wife was so impressed by the peas she didn't really care about the sauce. I didn't make the fennel fritters because I cut them wrong. The recipe says to quarter them which I read to mean in half, then in half again (4 wedges). After I cut them I realized they couldn't be made into fritters that way. They need to be sliced into four slices in order to stay round and flat. The dish was fantastic without them.
