These are nothing if not amazing! Yes, they ARE rather a heart attack waiting to happen, but oh-so-delicious! This dessert, though a 'bit' labor intensive, is already a family favorite! The apples MUST be sliced thinly, like that awful packaged cheese, and the carmelizing is best in two pans, as the recipe suggests. I tried it with one pan for the second batch and it just wasn't as spectacular! Make these! Everyone should love them! On a side note: a couple of us are allergic to walnuts so we substituted pecans. And, for the topping, you can melt the butter and toss the other ingredients until well coated before baking. That whole cutting in the butter thing is over rated.
