Chile's tourism authority is promoting the UFO Route, a mountainous strip within the southern Maule region where more than 100 UFO sightings have been reported since 1993. Rumor has it extraterrestrials favor the area in part because the Enladrillado formation, a stone plateau, makes an ideal landing pad for flying saucers.
