Aswan to Luxor

Cruise along the Nile for four days from Aswan to Luxor in this 1885 steamship that was renovated in 2007. The 23 rooms and five suites are arranged on two tiers that overlook the wide generous deck equipped with tables and wicker chairs. Recline on one of the comfortable chaise lounges on the top deck. The meals in the wood-paneled dining room are simple and delicious Egyptian-Continental fare: meatballs or shawarma kebabs with rice and baked cauliflower, or baby okra in tomato sauce, and homey desserts such as mahallabiyya pudding. At breakfast the pear jam, a fragrant, thick, reddish compote with large chunks of fruit, is homemade.
