“The plate was inspired by a recent trip to Japan, back in November 2012. Me and my friend Jenny visited friends who lives in Hayama, a beach town a couple of hours away from Tokyo. At a small farmers’ market, Jenny took photos of a woman wrapping up field flowers in newspaper, flowers that I bought. I enjoyed that moment immensely, the simplicity of the packaging, the beauty of the field around us, and the nice woman who had been selling her vegetables and flowers there for more than 40 years. It inspired me to do a simple collage on this plate.” jansdotter.com
