Dark 'n' Stormy

“I introduced my parents to the dark ’n’ stormy five or so years ago and they’ve never looked back. My mom is addicted to them. She drinks them year-round because she believes the drink has the power to transport her to the patio of our summer cottage. In fact, she’s even made punchbowls full of dark ’n’ stormies for our annual Christmas party. She’s entirely faithful to Goslings for the dark rum and ginger beer that the same company now sells in cans. I asked her for her recipe and she told me this, ‘fill a glass with ice. Add your dark rum. (Your dad likes a little, I like a lot.) Then you fill the glass with ginger beer and squeeze in a wedge of lime.’ And there she is, sitting under the umbrella in her bathing suit, looking out at the lake.”—Megan Krigbaum, Senior Wine Editor
