El TacoBike; Oakland, CA

Alfonso Dominguez started El TacoBike to bring Mexican street food to the avenues of Oakland—he was already running La Calle (“the street”) restaurant with his expat mother Gloria Dominguez. The trike operation, which both roams the streets and serves private parties, features a masked Mexican wrestler (luchador) theme. Asked whether he ever dons the mask while slinging carnitas or chorizo tacos and pork tamales, Dominguez replies, “Only when I need to save the day.”
