A growing brunch scene has led to a few tempting gimmicks in and around DC. Virtue Grain and Feed—the massive Virginia tavern from husband-and-wife team Cathal and Meshelle Armstrong—hosts a monthly pajama brunch party and serves a fully loaded Irish breakfast with pork belly, bacon, ham and sausages. Meanwhile, The Passenger in DC starts its “hangover brunch” at 2 p.m. with pancakes cooked in bacon grease and a bacon-egg-and-cheese between two waffles. The bustling Market Lunch counter in Capitol Hill’s Eastern Market offers hungry farmers’ market shoppers one of the city’s best breakfast sandwiches, The Brick, made with egg, fried potatoes, cheese and a choice of meat.
