Voodoo Doughnut; Portland, OR (original location)

Bacon maple bar doughnut, $2.50
A few things are certain at this tiny Portland parlor: You'll find wacky, whimsical pastries, an outrageous doughnut selection and typically a line out the door. In 2003, co-owner Kenneth "Cat Daddy" Pogson decided to top a maple bar with bacon on a whim—and voilà! The glorious sugary-and-swiny confection was born. "People travel far and wide to try this flavor," says the shop's Sara Heise. "Where sweet greets the meat!" A raised yeast doughnut bar with maple frosting and two crispy, salty bacon strips, this cult favorite has garnered a slew of famous fans, including Anthony Bourdain.
