Housed in a mid-19th-century former parsonage, this modern general store stocks everything from cookbooks and gifts for kids to house-made cupcakes like the Peanutty (chocolate and peanut butter swirl cake iced and topped with chocolate buttercream icing and crushed peanuts). “It’s awesome,” says F&W’s Megan Krigbaum. “I actually don’t really like cupcakes, but this store in my hometown makes very good ones.” Inspired by traditional English Banoffee pie, husband-and-wife team Curt Catallo and Ann Stevenson created the new Banoffee Cupcake, a banana cupcake filed with salted burnt caramel and toffee, then iced with caramel cream frosting. uniongeneralstore.com
