Serving Italian-inspired Austrian fare, this two-story restaurant is housed inside the 17th-century Palais Collalto, a Baroque palace where the six-year-old Mozart gave his first Viennese concert. Meaning “to the dark star,” Zum Finsteren Stern is decorated in a minimalist style with high arched ceilings, worn hardwood floors, and a wooden wall carved with tiny backlit stars. During warmer months, 10 additional tables are set up outside on a cobblestoned terrace, shaded by a large bluebell tree. The two three-course menus change regularly, with possible dishes including grilled sea bream with olive butter, and braised rabbit with sweet-and-sour lentils.
