Zabby & Elf's Stone Soup
At Zabby & Elf’s Stone Soup, located just off downtown Burlington's Church Street Marketplace, customers start at the hot food and salad bar and proceed past platters of baked goods and pizza to the cashier (cash only). Behind the bar, there are still more sandwiches, soups, and a few meat and fish dishes available even though the place caters mainly to Burlington's vegetarian and vegan crowds. Borrowing heavily from the Jewish deli tradition, co-founders Tim Elliott and Avery Rifkin decided on a menu that changes daily based on the availability of ingredients so their fare would always be made fresh from scratch. In warm weather, the wall on the sidewalk side the dining room is removed so the space fills with natural light.
