Yasu Sushi Bistro
Despite its unassuming strip mall location in Paradise Valley, this tiny Japanese restaurant has an inviting interior with bamboo ceiling panels, decorative screens, and soft jazz background tunes. Seating is also available on the outdoor patio and at the small sushi bar, although a partition blocks views of behind-the-bar action. Created by chef-owner Yasu Hashino, the menu features high-quality sushi, sashimi, and sumibiyaki (fresh fare grilled over binchotan, Japanese oak charcoal). In addition to a popular omakase (chef’s tasting) menu, the restaurant offers á la carte specialties like the spicy tuna roll, bacon-wrapped scallops, and sumibiyaki-grilled whole black snapper.
