Xochitl
Xochitl (pronounced “so-cheet”), a tequila bar/restaurant at the foot of Pine Street in Society Hill, serves Pre-Hispanic Mexican dishes like red snapper ceviche, braised beef short rib, and a mushroom tamale. Drink selections include premium tequila micheladas and margaritas served at the lantern-lit mahogany bar, with another lounge downstairs. There is also a build-it-yourself guacamole and pollo frito (fried chicken), which is pre-brined for 24 hours. Mosaics, hand-painted bowls, and Mission-style interior design mix Aztec and modern Mexican visual themes. There are two happy hours from 5 to 7 every evening with another beginning at 10 p.m. on weekends.
