Named in honor of the Austrian village where chef-owner Kurt Gutenbrunner was born, the Michelin-starred (and pricey) Wallsé takes a modern approach to Viennese fare. Located in the West Village Meatpacking District near the Hudson Promenade, Wallsé’s steel-grey exterior with matching curved lamps and architectural detail give way to the interior's black floor and banquettes juxtaposed with solid white tablecloths and walls. The latter are adorned with paintings by artists Julian Schnabel and Abert Oehlen. Popular dishes such as spätzle with braised rabbit, potato rösti, oxtail goulash, wiener schnitzel, and peach strudel are complemented by Austrian and German wines.
