Vicentes Cuban Cuisine

print
1250 Library Street, Downtown
Detroit, Michigan
313-962-8800

Vicentes feels a bit like an old-fashioned supper club, with blond wood chairs, tables covered in a striking shade of burgundy, and a dance floor that comes alive with salsa music after 10 p.m. on weekends. But it’s not all about the atmosphere: on the menu are sophisticated tapas, paella, and seafood creations, plus homey traditional Cuban fare like Ropa Vieja (old clothes), a hearty dish of seasoned shredded beef, plantains, black beans, and rice. You don’t have to stay inside, either; on a warm, sunny day, order a pressed Cuban at Vicentes’s sandwich kiosk and dig in at one of the outdoor tables.

Tip: Arrive for dinner at 8 p.m., the perfect time to eat, and then stay for the show.
