This is a local’s hangout first and tourist stop second, despite its close proximity to the convention center. For no-nonsense barbecue, Ugly Dog Saloon excels with a barebones menu: beef brisket, pulled pork, rotisserie chicken, smoked sausage, and burgers. All sandwiches wallop 1/4lb. or 1/2lb. of meat that is slow-cooked onsite in Ugly Dog’s smoker, and if that’s not enough, the platter comes with two sides, such as an Idaho smoked potato with butter and sour cream or chili beans. The warehouse district dive also has plenty of TVs and NFL Sunday Ticket, making it a popular sports hang out.
