Die-hard dim sum fans consistently rank Ton Kiang among the top restaurants in the Bay Area. A little off the beaten path in the Richmond area (between the Presidio and Golden Gate Park),Ton Kiang offers both street-level dining and a second floor with a large bay window. Though the restaurant interior is non-descript—booths and tables topped with white cloths—the authentic Chinese and Hakka cuisine is not. Dim sum is peddled through the restaurant in bamboo baskets, allowing diners to eat as much (and whatever variety) they prefer. Ton Kiang also specializes in clay pot Hakka casseroles, most with chicken or seafood.
