An intimate (22 seats only) tempura house in upscale Roppongi Hills, Tempura Mikawa is found behind an unmarked, sliding wooden door set into a full-wall mural of blue birds on a gold background. Inside, there's counter space for ten and a private tatami room with three tables behind a separate mural. The light and non-greasy tempura includes fresh-caught fish, seasonal vegetables, and kakiage (a mixed blend.) Meals are served with sake in artisan-made ceramic cups, and all include azuki beans with jelly for dessert.
