From the May 2008 Food & Wine Go List
Savory yeast-dough pies are the pride of Russian cuisine and the star attraction at Stolle, a popular chain of cafés founded in 2002. At this central branch near the city’s main street, Nevsky Prospekt, regulars choose among half a dozen savory and sweet pies at the front counter, then tote slices to a back room that’s decorated with vintage photographs of St. Petersburg.
We loved: Classic cabbage-and-beef pie; rabbit-and-mushroom pie.
