Owned by Toronto chef Susur Lee, Shang is an Asian-fusion eatery located in the Thompson Hotel on New York’s Lower East Side. The restaurant décor is decidedly Asian, with black lattices, walnut accents, and large lanterns; the menu, however, is less straightforward. Complex main dishes and starters include roasted Scottish salmon with avocado and wasabi mashed potatoes and Singapore slaw (composed of 19 ingredients). Sushi and sashimi are available both in the main dining room and on the terrace, which features a menu of snacks and dim sum.
