In 1997, Louis Sarcone, Jr. and Anthony Bucci took their great grandfather’s bakery rolls and created a menu of 40 different hoagies. Then they opened Sarcone’s Deli, an Italian sandwich shop, neighboring the fifth-generation Sarcone family bakery just 50 feet away. Inside the tiny brick building, Phillies baseball memorabilia decorates the bright yellow walls. At the counter next to a glass case filled with salads and meats, they sell such sandwiches as the Junk Yard Special (prosciutto, turkey, cheeses, spinach, and red peppers) and the Sinatra (prosciutto, garlic, spinach, and mozzarella).
