Founded by John Snedden, Rocklands Barbeque and Grilling Co. first opened in Glover Park in 1990. Now a regional chain with locations in Virginia, Maryland, and D.C., Rocklands serves classic, affordable barbecue cooked only with red oak and hickory. Behind a dark brick and glass façade with red-trimmed windows, this casual flagship location has a handful of seats, chalkboard menus, a communal bowl of peanuts, and shelves lined with dozens of different hot sauces. Signature dishes such as the chopped pork sandwich and beef ribs are complemented by Rocklands original barbecue sauce and traditional sides like macaroni and cheese.
