Old Delhi’s 17th-century Mughal fortress, known as the Red Fort, is the inspiration for this acclaimed Indian restaurant in Soho. Beneath a large skylight, the dining room is adorned with floor mosaics of Jaipuri red sandstone, silk-lined walls with Mughal arch designs, and a copper mosaic water feature. The restaurant also has an open-plan kitchen with traditional tandoor (cylindrical clay) ovens, used to prepare signature dishes like Scottish lobster with saffron, garlic, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Downstairs, the Zenna bar serves chai tea martinis and the Illiana—the “world’s spiciest cocktail,” served with a gin-based “fire extinguisher” and a required waver.
